1) Compressor

It is one of the fundamental components in industrial refrigeration, responsible for compressing the refrigerant gas and circulating it throughout the entire refrigeration system.

Due to heat, the refrigerant evaporates and enters the compressor, a device that increases its temperature and pressure. It is important to note that for this process to be carried out effectively, the temperature must be higher than that of the condensing fluid.

Compressors function similarly to a pump, as they facilitate the movement of fluid to circulate within the refrigeration system.

There are various types of industrial compressors:

2) Evaporator

Another essential component in industrial refrigeration is the evaporator, which is a coil that acts in the final phase of the cycle and functions to absorb heat from the environment, as well as to evaporate the liquid refrigerant, transforming it into gas.

By transforming the refrigerant into a gaseous state, it can exit the evaporator as vapor and thus re-enter the compressor.

Ceiling Evaporators

Ceiling evaporators are installed on the ceiling or at the top of the refrigeration chamber. They are designed to maximize usable space within the chamber, as they do not occupy floor space. These evaporators blow cold air downwards, creating a downward current that provides uniform temperature distribution throughout the chamber.

Inclined Evaporators

Inclined evaporators are designed with an inclination in their heat exchange surface. By reducing ice formation, these evaporators improve heat exchange efficiency and minimize the need for frequent defrosting.

Wall-mounted Evaporators for Freezing Tunnels

These evaporators are used in freezing tunnels or ultra-freezing chambers. They are installed on the walls of the tunnels and are designed to provide rapid and uniform refrigeration in low-temperature environments. These evaporators are built to withstand extremely low temperatures and maintain high efficiency even in freezing conditions.

Manufacture of Special Solutions

This term refers to the creation of customized evaporators for specific industrial applications. In some cases, industrial refrigeration systems require tailored solutions to adapt to the particular needs of an industry or process. The manufacture of special solutions involves the design and construction of custom evaporators that meet the specific requirements of the application in question.

3) Condenser

The condenser is one of the essential components in industrial refrigeration, responsible for cooling the refrigerant gas and transforming it into liquid.

The refrigerant gas enters the coil or condenser after leaving the compressor, and because this device is exposed to cold, heat is released, which can occur in an environment of water, outdoor air, or other fluids.

In this process, the fluid condenses and turns into a liquid state. The purpose of this process is for the refrigerant to reach a lower temperature and exit the device colder while maintaining the same pressure.

The condensers used in industrial refrigeration systems are:

  1. Water-cooled condensers: transfer heat to water to extract it and move it away from the refrigerant, using a second tube with water that surrounds the pipe through which the refrigerant circulates.
  2. Air-cooled condensers: expose the refrigerant to outside air to reduce its temperature, often with fans. Inditer offers a catalog of condensers for commercial and industrial applications.

4) Expansion Valve

It is a device that controls the flow of liquid refrigerant to the evaporator and helps maintain a constant temperature, thus representing another essential component in industrial refrigeration.

Upon exiting the condenser, the liquid refrigerant enters the expansion valve, performing functions such as:

  • Reducing pressure.
  • Decreasing the refrigerant flow rate to the evaporator.

This valve is located between the low and high-pressure zones of the cycle, so that the refrigerant reaches an ideal temperature for refrigeration.

5) Refrigerant

The liquid or gas refrigerant is another essential material and component in industrial refrigeration, used for extracting heat from the environment, transporting it from one area of the system to another.

Refrigerants can be special substances or gases that allow the cycle to be refrigerated; in fact, it can even be water.

Currently, although refrigerants that include hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, and fluorocarbons among their components are still used, there is an evolution towards the use of natural refrigerants, for which Inditer has a catalog of solutions for:

These devices are responsible for controlling and monitoring the system’s operation. They adjust the refrigerant flow, pressure, and temperature.

Insulation is used to prevent ambient heat from penetrating the industrial refrigeration system and helps maintain a constant internal temperature.
