It is important to emphasize that compliance with current regulations on who can handle fluorinated gases is fundamental to protecting the environment and contributing to the fight against climate change.

This Royal Decree on who can purchase fluorinated gases establishes a series of requirements that companies and individuals wishing to carry out these activities must meet:

1. Obtaining certificates:

  • Certificate for companies handling fluorinated gases: This is mandatory for companies that carry out installation, maintenance, repair, recovery, or disposal activities of equipment containing fluorinated gases.
  • Certificate for technicians handling fluorinated gases: This is mandatory for individuals who carry out the aforementioned activities on behalf of a certified company.

2. Equipment registration:

  • All companies possessing equipment containing fluorinated gases must register them in the Register of Fluorinated Gas Containing Equipment.

3. Leak control:

  • Companies must conduct periodic leak checks on their equipment containing fluorinated gases.
  • The frequency of checks will depend on the type of equipment and the quantity of fluorinated gas it contains.

4. Gas recovery:

  • Fluorinated gases recovered from equipment must be stored and managed appropriately.
  • The recovery of fluorinated gases can only be carried out by certified companies.

5. Training:

  • Personnel from companies handling fluorinated gases must receive adequate training on the risks associated with these gases, as well as the safety measures that must be taken.

6. Penalties

  • It is necessary to know that non-compliance with current regulations can lead to penalties of up to 600,000 euros.
