What is energy efficiency?

Types of energy efficiency
There are up to seven types of energy efficiency that will be reflected on your electrical device’s label. These range from A to D for the new labeling system, although devices with the old labeling system (A to G) still exist and do not show the A+, A++, and A+++ subcategories.
As expected, appliances with the best energy efficiency level will have an A+++, while those with poor energy efficiency will have a D.
The energy efficiency types table is structured using two parameters: SEER and SCOP. SEER refers to performance levels for cooling, while SCOP indicates performance levels for heating.
Choose the best types of energy efficiency
In addition to contributing to the environment, when you purchase these types of devices, especially those with an A label, you will save money. This is a direct consequence, as these appliances will help you save energy, and this reduction in consumption will be reflected in your utility bill.
Let’s look at the savings on electricity bills if you purchase Class A appliances:
- Class A+. Thanks to which you will save 10% of energy
- Class A++: Thanks to which you will save 16% of energy
- Class A+++: Thanks to which you will save 50% of energy
Although these devices may have a higher price, remember that they will also represent significant savings for your wallet. Remember, buy responsibly and intelligently!
Extra tips to reduce your energy consumption
We are aware that many people still have appliances at home whose labels do not even show the energy efficiency level. So, here are some tips that will help you reduce your utility costs and care for your environment.
- Buy power strips with a switch. This way, you will only have to turn off the switch to disconnect all plugged-in devices. Many of these appliances are in standby mode, even when turned off, and did you know? This consumes power.
- Buy power strips with standby eliminators. These exist, are of superior quality, can be disconnected with a remote control, and some even disconnect automatically when detecting a prolonged drop in consumption.
- Add timers to your appliances. These have the function of turning a device off or on at a specific programmed time, so you won’t have to be present to execute this action or do it manually.
For example, if you want to run a dishwasher in the early morning, as it will reduce your bill, you can program it to turn on at 2 a.m. without having to get out of bed.
